The Mexifornia Menu assures to delight its patrons with asensational roll-out, featuring the Sonora Pizza, a thin crust pizza with a smoky, roasted tomato salsa, roasted corn and black bean salsa garnished with creamy avocado, a snappy jalapeno sauce and a drizzle of cilantro. The Chicken Asada Pizza- a titillating serving of a robust traditional pizza with a sharp New Mexico chilli sauce with cheddar and fontina- a delicious semi-soft cheese-and shimmering, roasted peppers. A lip-smacking specialty, California Style Chimichanga- a stellar dish of crispy fried wrap filled with California rice, cotijacheese, masses of shredded lettuce, sour cream and a zesty tomato salsa.

California Pizza Kitchen is known for its mouthwatering pizzas but this time I was much more impressed by the Drinks,, Salads and Appetizers though the pizzas were good too. CPK India currently has 5 outlets spread across in India, I went to the Gurgaon outlet which is located in DLF Cyber Hub. The interiors are chic, casual and inviting whereas the staff is helping and courteous. Pizza is one such dish that can be infused with any and every topping and the amalgamation comes out beautiful. CPK had a great menu to offer which was beyond pizzas.

The food was accompanied by tequila based Margaritas, I tried Pineapple & Passion Fruit Margarita and then opted for a refreshing Mango Tango (Mocktail). All the drinks were freshly prepared using syrups and fresh juices and due to the use of fresh juice the drinks were close to perfection, although I felt there was a need to increase the alcohol in the margarita.

The Appetizers were the show stopper, we started with Corn & Jalapeno Empanadas, these were good but the size and use of Jalapeno can be increased. The freshly prepared salsa served along with the appetizers was excellent. Chicken Tomatillo Chille were strips of chicken tossed in homemade green chilli sauce along with coloured peppers, onions and tortilla chips. This was more like a salad which was tasty and healthy at the same time. Next on the table was Chicken and Paneer crispy tortilla salad, this was average in taste, chicken strips and paneer both were deep fried and tossed with three kind of lettuce along with Ranchito dressing which gave it a tangy flavor.

After the appetizers came the pizzas, there were four variants of the Mexican version, Mexican Habenaro Pizza, Chicken Asada, Mexican Veggie Pizza and New Mexico Pizza. Everyone’s favorite was the Mexican Veggie Pizza which was made on the thin crust base and was spicy yet flavorful and came dressed with veggies.

Desserts at California Pizza Kitchen, defy description. You have to dive into the Mexican Caramel Banana Flan served on a bed of vanilla sponge with great lashings of Banana Cream and Caramel sauce. Or the Trio of Chocolate Mousse, an opulent chocolate mousse flavored with three layers of Mexican white, milk and dark chocolate flavored with a hint of coffee and served in its very own chocolate cup.
