Barcelos is famous for its flame grilled Peri Peri menu that has won people’s heart in the capital and has been getting rave reviews from their first restaurant at Khan Market in central Delhi. They have an extensive menu of both veg & non- veg. But the Portuguese food here is dominantly for chicken lovers with a good amount of veg options available too. For starters I had Chicken Platter and Stuffed Mushrooms & Potato. The platter had chicken liver, boneless thighs, chicken wings and drumsticks all cover in tangy lemon sauce. First thing that I liked was the sauce was not just coated on the outside but it was there till the bone. I’m not a potato lover but these stuffed potatoes and mushrooms were better than any non beg dish ( this doesn’t mean I didn’t like non veg!).

Talking about the chicken platter, I’ve tried various chicken wings, drumsticks etc. but the taste and flavors one gets at Barcelos are different and rare to find.

In the main course, we ordered from the Portuguese specialities, Chicken Trinchado with rice- an exotic Portuguese gravy dish. With pepper and onion tossed in special gravy with chicken breasts cut in pieces. This dish is another must have. I’ve hardly seen any restaurant using Indian spices like tesz patta and jaiphal in their dishes and I had thought that only Indian origin restaurants do that but Barcelos proved me wrong.

The quantity is worth every penny and standing in Khan Market this place has made a niche for itself. The desserts and drinks are another highlight. I tried the Cheesecake and Tiramisu. Both were great but my vote will definitely go to Tiramisu. The Mocktails though were a bit on the sweeter side.

Presentation and taste get a 10/10 from my side.
