Barrels- old world pub in a new avatar

Barrels

Barrels

There was a time when pubs were a rage in the capital and all around the Metropolitan cities. Lately this culture has diminished among the cafe and all day dining restaurants. Barrels is one of those rarest pubs located in the nightlife hub of Delhi, Vasant Kunj. Once this place and market was known for its pubs, bars and much talked about TGIF is now a little lost but Barrels and places like it are trying to revamp the whole market again.

Barrels is a spacious, quirky and interesting place for a relax evening with friends or to chill out in afternoons.

This is one of the rarest pubs in the capital which has the best aromas whet up an appetite making way for a wholesome gastronomic experience. It has the divine, challenging impressive food menu which includes the dishes influenced by Asian, American, European and African cooking traditions.  Hot and piping barbecued chicken sausage, shredded lamb nachos, cigar rolls and classic fish fingers are a must try. Apart from this, peri peri chicken skrewers, choco chip sandwich and kukkad meal can’t be ignored. Barrels  also has  delicacies ranging from kathi rolls, Kebabs in Egg Blanket , Crème Veg and mushroom penne salad and not to forget  the  lamb steak and spicy meat balls with rice that will surely be  tempting and ensures a visit.

This place is always buzzing up with loud music and you’ll see almost every table filled with beer glasses, exactly how it happens in a pub. The food surprisingly is good and the menu has quit a lot of options from finger food to platters and sides. I tried a few dishes and was impressed with the taste and quantity. But at the same time I was not so impressed with the service and the choice of dishes served. But nevertheless I would like to give them a benefit of doubt, the staff was probably not well prepared and got a little hay wire when it came to choosing the dishes for me.

These were a few dishes I tried, they definitely don’t look out of the world or anything new but then there are days and times when you are not looking for something exotic but comfort food. You may think that it’s an ordinary kind of a meal but let me tell you, it tasted really well. Also they have some amazing cocktails, their bar tender knows his job very well and serves you right kind of cocktail.
