The Wine Company, Cyber Hub

The Wine Company

The Wine Company

While everybody else around me thinks that Cyber Hub is too far, I on the other hand feels that this place is perfect for any sort of meal/occasion/ celebration. From bakeries to doughnut outlets and big restaurants, this place has everything. I’ve been to a lot of places here but one place that kept me interested in it was The Wine Company. So when I got an invite to review this place I couldn’t say No infact I made a few changes in my schedule and planned this evening at this restaurant.

Wine Cellar

Wine Cellar

As the name suggests, this place has humongous collection of wines from both the world’s (New & Old). New world being from France and Old world from Chile. Less that we all know, a lot of things matter when you’re drinking a wine, for example how does it smells, the consistency of the wine, how does it tastes and what all flavors you can taste when you sip on your wine. Luckily, the connoisseur of The Wine Company, sat with us and told us many such details about wine and its pairing with the food you eat.

Wine Flights

Wine Flights

We tried what they call is Wine Flights, where you are given samples of 4 wines, 2 Red and 2 White (1 White & 1 Red is from Old World and 1 White & 1 Red is from New World) wines. Each sample is paired up with a particular dish, depending upon the texture, consistency and majorly acidity of the wine.

New World Wine pairing:

1. Bordeaux Blend (France)- Spaghetti with Meat Ball

2. Semillion (France)- Any Fruit Flavor Dessert

Old World Wine pairing:

1. Cabernet Sauvignion (Chile)- Grilled Tenderloin or Barbeque Grilled Chicken Pizza

2. Sauvignion Blanc (Chile)- Salads

Carari Roti

Carari Roti

Now coming back to the food, we were served Carari Roti as soon as we were seated. This as the name suggests is a bigger and crispier version of a naan which is garnished with masala’s, ghee and coriander. This carari roti gets a 10/10 from me. Next came on the table were Grilled pesto mushrooms, Skewered Chicken olive tapenade, Lemon and garlic prawns. The grilled pesto mushrooms were perfect in flavor and taste and so were the lemon and garlic prawns. Skewered chicken had a very different and unusual taste because of the coating that has been used and leaves a good impact on your palette.

Rocket leaf and goat cheese salad was bang on the spot! It’s also my personal favorite these days and tasted much better with the wine which was paired with it.

After discussing with the chef we decided to go for a half n half pizza. The Pizza was Half topped with garden veggies and Half with minced lamb. Though the taste, preparation and quantity was perfect, I found the crust of the pizza to be weak and unable to hold the toppings. The toppings in the lamb pizza were continuously falling down which actually turned me off.

As per the wine pairing we were served Spaghetti with Meat balls. The spaghetti was a cold and the meat balls were too dry. I asked the chef if it’s just today or it’s supposed to be like this. After knowing that it’s supposed to be a little dry due to some reason I agreed but still this dish is highly avoidable.

For the main course chef gave us Thyme butter marinated roast half chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Now this dish was beautiful. Both in looks and in taste, this dish had perfect texture, flavors, taste and everything else.

Next dish on the table was, Spice salmon with herb oil spaghetti. Recently at one of the reviews I had salmon and it was too dry for me to eat it but this was totally opposite to what I had the other day at this place. The spaghetti was tasted so good in this dish and salmon was not dry and in fact was perfectly grilled on outside and soft and juicy on inside.

No meal is complete without desserts. So we learned that The Wine Company has collaborated with L’Opera for a new dessert menu. Baba Au Rhum, Opera Classic with Coffee Cream and Apple Cinnamon cake with Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream were a few desserts we tried, Baba Au Rhum is deadly dessert filled with Rum, Opera Classic was my personal favorite out of the three and Apple Cinnamon left me craving for more.
